IELTS Nepal BAR DIAGRAM - Writing Task 1 for Nepali Students

This video is a quick guide to Nepali IELTS students. We have made this for Nepali Students giving IELTS Exam in Nepal.

For students of Nepal preparing for their IELTS Test, bar diagram seems to pose certain problems. One sitting for IELTS must know the proper terminologies to be used and efficient ways to express the data with language.

Task 1 of IELTS Writing is all about comparing, reporting main features and summarizing. So, you can get some ideas about how to get it done exactly and ace the test by watching the video. Students of Nepal do not have a habit of writing reports as it is not common in our schools or high schools, so this video can help you ace the test if you are not confident about explaining the data given in bar chart properly.

SCRIPT OF THE TASK :

The bar diagram compares the amount of money spent in the year 2010 by the citizens of U.K. and France on five different consumer goods.

In both the countries, car expenditure was the highest with France having an expenditure of 500,000 pounds sterling whereas expenditure on the same in the U.K. was 50,000 more. On the contrary, the lowest expenditure made by the people of U.K. was on perfume which had a figure of nearly 140,000 while the lowest in France was for cameras with a figure of 150,000 pound sterling. It is interesting to note that the expenditure in France for cars was more than double compared to the expenditure on perfume.

Furthermore, in terms of computers, the people of U.K. had an expenditure of 350,000 pound sterling which was 25,000 less compared to the expenditure made by the French people on the same. In terms of the expenditure made on books, the countries France and U.K. had a difference of nearly 100,000 pounds sterling; with the former having a figure of 300,000.

Overall, France spent more money on perfume and computers while for the remaining three consumer goods, U.K had higher expenditure.

NOTE:
While making the video I used the word “expenditure” too many times, apologies for that. Please make sure you replace it when you practice. Some suggestions for replacement are below:
- Spending
- Money spent on
- Expenses on
- Spent
- The amount spent on
